The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for providing each terminal (t1, t2, t) in a network (n) with an adapted location area (HAt1, HAt2, FAs, FApt), customised to the long term or short term historical movements or behaviour of the terminal (t1, t2, t) in the network (n). The terminal (t1, t2, t) can enter three different modes; session mode, packet mode and transaction mode, which controls what kind of location area (HAt1, HAt2, FAs, FApt) the terminal (t1, t2, t) should use. The types of location areas are a home location area (HAt1, HAt2), based on the long term historical movements of the terminal (t1, t2, t) and used when the terminal (t1, t2, t) is located inside a home area constituting the normal mobility pattern of the terminal in the network (n), a session mode-fast adaptive location area (FAs), used when the terminal (t1, t2, t) enters the session mode and is located outside the home area, and a packet mode/transaction mode-fast adaptive location area (FApt), used for burstlike traffic when the terminal (t1, t2, t) enters the packet mode or the transaction mode.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil destinés à fournir à chaque terminal (t¿1?, t¿2?, t) d'un réseau (n) une zone de localisation adaptée (HA¿t1?, HA¿t2?, FA¿s?, FA¿pt?), personnalisée aux mouvements historiques long terme ou court terme ou au comportement du terminal (t¿1?, t¿2?, t) du réseau (n). Le terminal (t¿1?, t¿2?, t) peut passer en trois modes différents; mode session, mode paquet et mode transaction qui commandent le type de zone de localisation (HA¿t1?, HA¿t2?, FA¿s?, FA¿pt?) que le terminal (t¿1?, t¿2?, t) devrait utiliser. Les types de zones de localisation sont une zone de localisation locale (HA¿t1?, HA¿t2?), basée sur les mouvements historiques long terme du terminal (t¿1?, t¿2?, t) et utilisée lorsque le terminal (t¿1?, t¿2?, t) est situé à l'intérieur d'une zone locale constituant le motif de mobilité normal du terminal du réseau (n); une zone de localisation d'adaptation rapide mode session (Fa¿s?), utilisée lorsque le terminal (t¿1?, t¿2?, t) passe en mode de session et qu'il est situé en dehors de la zone locale; et une zone de localisation d'adaptation rapide mode paquet/mode transaction (FA¿pt?), utilisée pour le trafic type rafale lorsque le terminal (t¿1?, t¿2?, t) passe en mode paquet ou en mode transaction.
