ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for depilating slaughtered livestock. The carcass is subjected to a warm water treatment and then roughly de- pilated by means of beating and scraping tools while simul- taneously being rotated about its longitudinal axis. The remaining fine hairs are removed using burner means over the entire carcass which act on various zones of the carcass with differences in operating time and or intensity.
