A method of depositing diamond film, comprising the steps of providing an environment comprising a mix of diamond forming gases and an electron source gas; applying an electric field across said environment to accelerate free electrons of said electron source gas, said free electrons dissociating hydrogen in said diamond forming gases to produce atomic hydrogen; and providing a deposition surface in said environment and implementing diamond deposition on said deposition surface from said diamond forming gases, assisted by said atomic hydrogen. An apparatus for depositing diamond film, comprises a chamber; a reaction zone in said chamber; means for feeding diamond forming gases and an electron source gas into said reaction zone; means for applying an electric field across said reaction zone to accelerate free electrons of said electron source gas and dissociate hydrogen in said diamond forming gases to produce atomic hydrogen; and a deposition surface adjacent said reaction zone, whereby diamond film is deposited on said deposition surface from said diamond forming gases, assisted by said atomic hydrogen.
L'invention est une méthode de dépôt de films de diamant et comprend les opérations suivantes : production d'un environnement contenant un mélange de gaz de formation de diamant et d'un gaz source d'électrons; application d'un champ électrique à cet environnement pour accélérer les électrons libérés par ladite source gazeuse, ces électrons libres dissociant l'hydrogène dans lesdits gaz de formation de diamant pour produire de l'hydrogène atomique; et production d'une surface de dépôt dans cet environnement et réalisation du dépôt du diamant sur cette surface de dépôt au moyen desdits gaz de formation de diamant, au moyen dudit hydrogène atomique. L'appareil de dépôt de films de diamant comporte une chambre, une zone de réaction dans cette chambre, un dispositif d'alimentation en gaz de formation de diamant et en gaz source d'électrons dans cette zone de réaction, un dispositif d'application d'un champ électrique à cette zone de réaction pour accélérer les électrons libérés par ladite source gazeuse et dissocier l'hydrogène dans lesdits gaz de formation de diamant pour produire de l'hydrogène atomique, et une surface de dépôt adjacente à ladite zone de réaction, sur laquelle le film de diamant est déposé à partir desdits gaz de formation de diamant, l'hydrogène atomique facilitant ce dépôt.
