A resistivity logging tool suitable for downhole use includes a transmitter and two spaced apart receivers. The measured signals are inverted to determine the distance to an overpressured zone in the earth formation. The overpressured zone may be a transition zone in resistivity. The direction of drilling may be controlled based on the determined distance. Optionally, seismic-while drilling measurements may be made from which a separate estimate of the distance can be obtained. The SWD~ measurements may also be processed to estimate the pore pressure.

Selon cette invention, un outil de diagraphie de résistivité destiné à une utilisation de fond de trou, comprend un émetteur et deux récepteurs séparés. Les signaux mesurés sont inversés afin de déterminer la distance à une zone de surpression dans la formation terrienne. La zone de surpression peut être une zone de transition en résistivité. La direction du forage peut être commandée en fonction de cette distance déterminée. Eventuellement, des mesures sismiques durant le forage peuvent être effectuées à partir desquelles une estimation séparée de la distance peut être obtenue. Des mesures SWD® peuvent également être traitées afin d'estimer la pression interstitielle.
