A method and apparatus for determining an ACK frame appropriate for a wireless local area network (LAN) environment where high throughput stations and legacy stations with different data transmission capabilities coexist to acknowledge the receipt of a transmission frame. The method and apparatus enable each station to access a medium normally in the wireless LAN environment and complement a carrier sensing method. The method includes determining types of stations on a wireless local area network, determining the ACK frame for acknowledging the receipt of the transmission frame on the wireless local area network according to the result of determination, and notifying a corresponding station on the wireless local area network of the determined ACK frame.
Cette invention concerne un procédé et un appareil servant à déterminer une trame ACK appropriée pour un environnement de réseau local (LAN) sans fil, dans lequel coexistent des stations à débit élevé et des stations existantes ayant des capacités de transmission de données différentes, afin d'accuser la réception d'une trame de transmission. Ce procédé et cet appareil permettent à chaque station d'accéder à un support se trouvant normalement dans l'environnement de réseau LAN sans fil et de réaliser un procédé de détection de porteuses. Ce procédé consiste à déterminer les types de stations sur un réseau local sans fil, à déterminer la trame ACK pour accuser la réception de la trame de transmission sur le réseau local sans fil en fonction du résultat de la détermination, et à notifier la trame ACK ainsi déterminées à la station correspondante sur le réseau local sans fil.
