-38- A system and method for determining measurements of an image of an object appearing in a radiograph generated from a radiation source are provided. The system comprises a base platform, a size-calibrating object having one calibrated dimension and a positioning apparatus for the size-calibrating object. The positioning apparatus has a first part coupled to the base platform extending from the base platform and a second part associated with the first part to position the size calibrating object at a location about the object. The method utilizes radiographs and images of objects therein to calculate x-ray attenuation coefficients of objects.
