METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING PERMEABLE ZONES IN SUBSURFACE EARTH FORMATIONS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In accordance with an illustrative embodiment of the present invention, a method and apparatus for logging an earth formation of interest is disclosed that provides an indication of the presence of permeable and impermeable zones in the earth formation. As described more specifically in the disclosure, main and auxiliary currents are emitted into the earth formation surrounding the borehole. The currents are measured and two parameters are produced: a first parameter that is related to the auxiliary current, and a second parameter related to the-main current and the first parameter. Furthermore, a ratio of the second parameter to the first parameter is provided. These measurements are used to obtain indications of the permeability of the subsurface earth formation.
