The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for determining position of a mining machine as its wheels skid with respect to the underlying surface. In the method, at least one detector detecting the operation of transmission detects skidding of at least one wheel (2c) with respect to the underlying surface, whereupon determination of the position by means of the rotation of the wheels (2c) and the direction of travel is interrupted. The apparatus comprises at least one detector for detecting the operation of the transmission, the detector de-tecting the skidding of at least one wheel (2c) with respect to the underlying surface.
Linvention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de déterminer la position d'une machine d'exploitation minière grâce au glissement de ses roues sur la surface sous-jacente. Selon ce procédé, au moins un détecteur détectant l'opération de transmission détecte le glissement d'au moins une roue (2c) sur la surface sous-jacente, la détermination de la position par la rotation des roues (2c) et la direction de parcours étant ainsi interrompue. L'appareil comprend au moins un détecteur destiné à détecter l'opération de transmission, ledit détecteur détectant le glissement d'au moins une roue (2c) sur la surface sous-jacente.
