- 39 - ABSTRACT The invention concerns a procedure that is principally shown in figure 2. A sample of material, which material or its properties having to be determined, reflects or transmits the electromagnetic radiation of a radiation source (1). The radiation from the sample is collected and analysed over several channels (7,7',7''), which modulate the radiation with a spectral transmission function prescribed individually for each channel. The modulated radiation is transmitted to one or several detectors (9,9',9''), whose output signals are further electronically processed. The spectral range for which the channels are sensitive, is the same for all channels. But within that common range the channels have different spectral transmission functions (7,7',7''), which are optimally adapted for a given application. (fig. 2)
