21.590 METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING THE FLOW CHARACTERISTICS OF A FLUID IN A WELL Abstract of the Disclosure A sonde for measuring the flowrate Q of fluid flowing in a well includes at least one vortex street generating obstacle placed transversely to the flow, a pressure transducer associated with the obstacle and producing a signal comprising both a useful frequency component f and spurious components, and a circuit mounted at the output of the transducer and connectable to a transmission cable for use in service. The frequency f is repre- sentative of the flowrate, and the amplitude of the signal is proportional to the square of the flowrate. The circuit includes an integrator 48 and, associated with the integrator, an automatic gain control means 44,47,49 designed to act selectively on the spurious frequency components lower than f. - 1 -
