A method and apparatus for displaying a representation of a traffic intersection on a display of a computer is disclosed. The method involves receiving operator input defining a relative orientation between a first roadway and a second roadway, the first and second roadways forming an intersection area therebetween. The method also involves receiving an operator selection of a design vehicle that is expected to use the traffic intersection, the design vehicle being defined by a plurality of design vehicle parameters. The method further involves generating at least one turning path of the design vehicle through the intersection between the first roadway and the second roadway, and generating first vehicle extent locations associated with passage of the design vehicle along the at least one turning path. The method also involves generating an outer edge of the intersection area, the outer edge being generally aligned with selected ones of the first vehicle extent locations, and generating display signals for causing the computer display to display an image representing the traffic intersection.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil d'affichage d'une représentation d'une intersection routière sur un affichage d'ordinateur. Le procédé consiste à recevoir une entrée d'opérateur définissant une orientation relative entre une première route et une seconde route, les première et seconde routes définissant une zone d'intersection entre elles. Le procédé consiste également à recevoir une sélection d'opérateur d'un véhicule conceptuel qui doit utiliser l'intersection routière, le véhicule conceptuel étant défini par une pluralité de paramètres de véhicule conceptuel. Le procédé consiste également à générer au moins un trajet tournant du véhicule conceptuel à travers l'intersection entre la première route et la seconde route, et à générer des premiers endroits d'extension de véhicule associés au passage du véhicule conceptuel le long dudit trajet tournant. Le procédé consiste également à générer un bord externe de la zone d'intersection, le bord externe étant généralement aligné sur les premiers endroits d'extension de véhicule qui ont été choisis, et à générer des signaux d'affichage pour que l'affichage de l'ordinateur affiche une image représentant l'intersection routière.
