ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus for displaying alphanumeric and graphic messages in a flat medium using a small number of geometric forms is described. In the example, triangular and parallelogram flat paving stones or tiles are fashioned at an appropriate size, and these are arrangeable into an infinite number of letter, number or graphic forms. The same forms, produced in different colour, can make up the background. Mathematically defined integer multiples of the sizes of the forms are also produced, and will interfit with the original size, making it possible to easily deal with situations requiring complex detail, shading or special weight-bearing.
