An apparatus for disposing of cuttings when drilling a well includes a mobile mixing unit that consists of a vehicle with a mixing container mounted on the vehicle. The mixing container has a mechanical mixer capable of mixing cuttings with absorbent. An absorbent storage and transport area is provided on the vehicle. A first mechanized conveyance is provided which is adapted to convey cuttings from a holding container to the mixing container and absorbent to the mixing container. A second mechanized conveyance is mounted on the vehicle and is adapted to convey mixed cuttings and absorbent from the mixing container to a transport vehicle.
