A method and system for distributing promotional offers and other incentives to consumers over a communication network and for the consumers subsequently to redeem at least some of the offers is disclosed. The invention includes storing manufacturers offers and/or retail incentives in a database C associated with a cooperative communication network site (2) and providing information from the database to a consumer in a response to a request from a consumer to the database. The consumer may be connected directly to the database or may be given access to the database while logged into a retailer's or manufacturer's network site in such a way that the consumer is not aware that information is coming from the co-operative communication site. In addition, a transactional second database D is provided for recording transactions on the first database C so that when a consumer selects offers, step (27), from the database, an order is generated, step (28), on the transactional database. This order is passed to the retailer's on-line check out, step (30), and the transactional database is further updated, step (31), with any unfulfilled orders. Invoicing data is then produced from the transactional database for invoicing manufacturers and other suppliers for manufacturer's offers redeemed by retailers, and in addition, in an embodiment of the invention, marketing analysis reports are generated from the transactional database.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un système de distribution d'offres promotionnelles et autres incitations à l'achat aux consommateurs via un réseau de communications, qui permet ensuite aux consommateurs d'échanger au moins quelques offres. Cette invention consiste à stocker des offres de fabriquants, et/ou des incitations à l'achat de détaillants, dans une base de données (C) associée à un site de réseau de communication coopératif (2) et à fournir au consommateur des informations provenant de ladite base de données en réponse à une demande émanant du consommateur et destinée à la base de donnée. Le consommateur peut être relié directement à la base de données ou autorisé à y accéder lorsqu'il se connecte au site de réseau d'un détaillant ou d'un fabriquant, de sorte que celui-ci ne se rende pas compte du fait que les informations proviennent du site de communications coopératif. Par ailleurs, une seconde base de données transactionnelle (D) permet d'enregistrer les transactions dans la première base de données (C), pour que lorsque le consommateur sélectionne des offres, (opération 27), dans la base de données, une commande est émise, (opération 28), dans la base de données transactionnelle. Cette commande est transmise au contrôle en ligne du détaillant, (opération 30), la base de données transactionnelles étant alors mise à jour, (opération 31), avec toute commande non exécutée. Des données de facturation sont ensuite produites par la base de données transactionnelle pour facturer aux fabriquants et autres fournisseurs les offres de fabriquants échangées par les détaillants. Dans un des modes de réalisation de l'invention, la base de données transactionnelle produit des rapports d'analyse marketing.
