ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An ink drop printing system wherein individual ink droplets to be projected in free flight are given an electrical charge for providing a proper flight deflection for controlling impact location on a print medium. The amount of charge imparted to each droplet is retrieved in coded form from a programmable memory and converted to a voltage signal for charging an ink drop upon its generation. The memory storing drop charge infor- mation is reprogrammable according to size of characters printed or according to other desired application requirements.
