ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Method and apparatus are disclosed for the production of coal-dust to be used in the burner of a combustion unit, such as, for example, for the production of cement clinker. A stream of drying gas for the grinding-drying is removed from the preheating system of the combustion unit and the stream is passed in the shortest possible path to the grinding-drying system. The method and apparatus achieve a favorable gas balance and maintain a desired inertness of the system.
