The invention concerns an apparatus for generation and ejection into air of discrete agglomerations of a particulate material with a proportion of liquid from a liquid having the particulate material therein. The apparatus defines an ejection location (128) and an electrical potential is applied to the ejection location to form an electric field at the location, and liquid (122) with the particulate material is supplied to the ejection location. An oscillating voltage (A) is applied to the ejection location, the magnitude of the voltage being below that required to cause ejection of particles from the ejection location, and an ejection voltage (B) is superimposed on the oscillating voltage additively with the oscillating voltage in order to cause the sum of the voltages at the ejection location to exceed the threshold required for ejection, when required.

Appareil permettant de produire et d'éjecter dans de l'air des agglomérats discrets d'un matériau particulaire comportant une proportion de liquide, depuis un liquide contenant ledit matériau particulaire. Cet appareil présente un site d'éjection (128). Un potentiel électrique est appliqué sur le site d'éjection pour former un champ électrique sur le site, et le liquide (122) contenant le matériau particulaire est acheminé vers le site d'éjection. Une tension (A) d'oscillation est appliquée sur le site d'éjection, l'amplitude de ladite tension étant inférieure à celle requise pour provoquer l'éjection de particules depuis le site d'éjection, et une tension (B) d'éjection est superposée à la tension d'oscillation et s'ajoute à cette dernière afin que la somme de ces deux tensions au niveau du site d'éjection dépasse la valeur seuil requise pour l'éjection, si nécessaire.
