A method and apparatus for enabling a peering arrangement between distinct packet networks so that traffic between these networks remains on the IP network from the point of origination to the point of termination are disclosed. IP peering is an arrangement that allows two or more IP carriers to be interconnected so that IP packets originating in one carrier can be terminated in another carrier's network. In one embodiment, the peering arrangement between packet networks is implemented while establishing a class of service across different packet networks.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant un agencement d'interconnexion d'homologue à homologue entre des réseaux de paquets distincts afin que le trafic entre ces réseaux reste sur le réseau IP du point d'origine au point de terminaison. L'interconnexion d'homologue à homologue IP est un agencement qui permet à deux transporteurs IP ou plus d'être interconnectés de telle sorte que des paquets IP provenant d'un transporteur peuvent se terminer dans un autre réseau de transporteur. Dans un mode de réalisation, l'agencement d'interconnexion d'homologue à homologue entre des réseaux de paquets est mis en place tout en établissant une classe de service à travers différents réseaux de paquets.
