Different web pages on a web server are associated with different qualification profiles (305), each of which is assigned a value (340) by the web-site proprietor. Traffic data hits at the web-site are analyzed to determine which web pages the visitor viewed on the web server. Each qualifying visitor is thereafter associated with a qualification profile (305) and a corresponding value (340). In another aspect of the invention, visitors arriving as a result of an advertisement on a remote web-site are tracked. The web-site proprietor is consequently able to determine a return on advertising investment based on the value of visitors brought to the site by the tracked advertisement.

Différentes pages web d'un serveur web sont associées à différents profils (305) de qualifications, chacun de ces profils disposant d'une valeur (340) qui est affectée par le propriétaire du site web. Une analyse des résultats concernant les données du trafic au niveau su site web permet de connaître les pages web que le visiteur a vues sur le serveur web. On associe ensuite à chaque visiteur qualifiant un profil (305) de qualifications et une valeur (340) correspondante. Selon un autre aspect de l'invention, on fait un suivi des visiteurs arrivant par suite d'une publicité sur un autre site. Le propriétaire du site web est alors capable de calculer un retour sur investissement publicitaire en partant de la valeur des visiteurs amenés sur le site par la publicité mise sous surveillance.
