An applanation tonometer (10) and its operation involve an actuator (15) pressing a prism (30) with a variable and determinable force against a cornea of an eye while a source (20) directs light to reflect from an applanation surface (31) of the prism to a detector (25) producing a detected light signal received by a microprocessor (50). Such a tonometer produces a diastolic phase signal and a systolic phase signal representing the complete intra ocular pressure experience of the eye being examined. The signal information allows combined diastolic and systolic IOP to be determined in several corroborating ways and also yields measures of ocular blood flow and tonography.
La présente invention concerne un tonomètre à aplanation et son fonctionnement. Ledit fonctionnement implique qu'un actionneur presse un prisme à l'aide d'une force variable et déterminable contre la cornée d'un oeil alors qu'une source dirige une lumière de manière à ce qu'elle soit réfléchie par une surface d'aplanation du prisme sur un détecteur produisant un signal optique détecté reçu par un microprocesseur. Ledit tonomètre produit un signal de phase diastolique et un signal de phase systolique représentant la pression intraoculaire complète de l'oeil examiné. Les informations des signaux permettent de déterminer la pression intraoculaire diastolique et systolique, de manière combinée, selon plusieurs façons qui corroborent et permettent également la débitmétrie sanguine oculaire et la tonographie.
