Methods and apparatus for extending the life of an x-ray tube (10). An x-ray tube (10) typically contains an insert (34) for generating x-rays. The insert (14) is housed in a housing (18) wherein an insulating fluid (16) circulates around the insert (14) in the housing (18) to provide thermal and electrical insulation. One embodiment of the invention includes a processor (32) containing a coalescing element (40) for removing water as a vapor from the oil (16). Other embodiments include methods and devices for drying the interior of the housing (18). Another embodiment of the invention includes a kit (90) containing a processor (32) having a coalescing element (40) for removing water from the insulating oil (16). The portable kit (90) allows the invention to be practiced on x-ray tubes (10) maintained in gantry supports of x-ray machines, such as CT scanners.
L'invention a pour objet un procédé et un appareil pour prolonger la durée de vie d'un tube à rayons X (10). Ce type de tube (10) contient généralement un insert (34) pour générer des rayons X. Cet insert (14) est logé dans un boîtier (18) dans lequel un fluide isolant (16) circule autour de l'insert (14) dans le boîtier (18) pour assurer l'isolation thermique et électrique. Un mode de réalisation de la présente invention comprend un dispositif de traitement (32) contenant un élément de coalescence (40) pour retirer de l'eau sous forme de vapeur se dégageant de l'huile (16).
