ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There is provided an improved complex gel and appa- ratus for the extracorporeal treatment of blood of hyperlipemic and hypercholesteremic patients whereby a portion of blood is drawn from such patients and treated with a divalent metal complex of a sulphated polysaccharide coupled to a non- sulphated polysaccharide gel having its remaining sites blocked whereby a substantial amount of the lipoproteins present in the blood are bound to the gel and then filtering the blood before returning same to the patient.
