ABSTRACT Method of filling a pressure vessel with a chip-liquid mixture by means of a feeder valve which consists of a rotor in a housing with inlets and outlets, which rotor has at least one passageway alignable with a first inlet during rotation of the rotor to enable filling of the passageway with a charge of chip-liquid mixture and liquid is extracted through a screen in a first outlet, the passageway then being aligned with a second outlet, through which the charge is discharged into the pressure vessel by means of a liquid pumped in from the pressure vessel through a line to the second inlet, whereby the passageway is filled with such liquid, characterized by that the passage- way in a subsequent position, is aligned with a third outlet in the housing, through which at least a part of the liquid in the passageway is displaced by means of gas and/or steam added through a third inlet and that the passage- way after at least part of the liquid has been displaced is, about simultan- eously aligned with (a) a fourth outlet in the housing, through which expand- ing gas and/or steam is led off from the passageway and, (b) a fourth inlet in the housing, through which liquid is added so that the passageway is filled with liquid when it is subsequently aligned with said first inlet.
