Abstract of the Disclosure A method and apparatus for filling packaging blanks arranged in a continuous flexible band which displays two opposing walls and longitudinal first and second edges which incorporate a number of consecutively arranged packaging blanks each with a bottom section at the aforementioned second edge and two bonding zones arranged transversely in relation to the longi- tudinal direction of the band forming the side closures of the packaging blank. The band has two border strips arranged mainly opposite each other and extending in the longitudinal direction to the band at its afore- mentioned first edge, wherein the guide devices comprise two adjacent guide bars arranged in the same plane for interacting with the band. Each border strip is provided with a continuous holding device for interacting with the aforementioned guide bars, in that the guide bars display end sections which are situated in the vicinity of each other, and center sec- tions which are situated at a distance from each other. These center sections are arranged to separate the border strips of the band from each other in conjunction with the opening of the packaging blanks, whereby a desired material or object may be placed in the packaging blanks. The method comprises pulling the continuous holding device forward during interaction with the packaging blank opening guide devices, which are in engagement with the aforementioned holding devices, filling the opened packaging blanks, closing the packaging blanks, and removing the border strips from the packaging blanks.
