A B S T R A C T : A method and an apparatus for foaming of bitumen. Liquid bitumen at a temperature of 120 - 160°C is mixed with 1 - 3 % by weight of water in a mixing device (8) at a pressure which is higher than the saturation pressure of water vapor at the temperature of the hot bitumen. From the mixing device the mixture is allowed to expand through a valve (10) such as a throttle valve, the resulting evaporation of the water in the mixture causing the desired foaming of the bitumen.
