ABSTRACT A method and a device for forming a paper web in a Fourdrinier paper making machine. The stock is ejected onto the wire through a slice. In order to dampen hydrodynamic disturbances, the paper web is formed in a space between a flexible upper lip projecting from the slice and a portion of the wire, which portion is unsupported at least at the end of the forming. The dewatering takes place through this portion of the wire by means of vacuum.
