ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The synthetic plastic foam products are extruded in a manner to cause a controlled increase in the area of the product after being extruded through a die orifice. This controlled increase in cross sectional area is limited by a shaping horn which engages the product as it is foaming and limits the cross section of the final product. A lubricant is introduced to reduce friction and avoid adhesion of the product to the shaping horn.
