ABSTRACT This invention relates to a solar cell combination having an integral cover, said cover being a mixed oxide and/or nitride film formed integral there- on, covering the surface of said cell and formed of a composition selected from the Al-Si-O-N quaternary system, wherein said composition has a coefficient of expansion similar to that of the solar cell. This new solar cell combination is particularly effective for use in satellites in space and the integral cover provides improved radiation protection.
