The present invention is directed to a method for making fused silica glass by introducing a liquid, preferably halide-free, silicon-containing compound (32) directly into the flame (23) of a burner (24), thereby forming amorphous soot (25). This soot is deposited on a surface (26) and consolidated into a body of fused silica glass. The invention also relates to an apparatus which includes a burner (24) which generates a flame (23); an injector (31) for supplying a compound (32) to the flame (23) to convert the compound to soot and a surface (26) on which the soot is deposited.
L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de verre de silice, qui consiste à introduire un composé (32) liquide, de préférence exempt d'halogénure, contenant du silicium (32), directement dans la flamme (23) d'un brûleur (24), ce qui produit une suie amorphe (25). On dépose la suie sur une surface (26) et on la compacte afin d'obtenir un corps de verre de silice. L'invention concerne également un dispositif comprenant un brûleur (24) générant une flamme (23); un injecteur (31) servant à alimenter la flamme (23) en composé (32), afin de convertir ce dernier en suie, ainsi qu'une surface (26) sur laquelle est déposée la suie.
