A spoken dialog system is constructed to sufficiently understand a user's response to the open- ended prompt 'How may I help you?' in order to route a caller to an appropriate destination, with subsequent processing for information retrieval or call/task completion. In this invention the relationships among the call types are structured into an inheritance hierarchy. Then a dialog manager exploits this hierarchy and the output of a spoken language understanding module to generate a set of semantically consistent task objectives.
Système de dialogue parlé, capable de comprendre une réponse d'un utilisateur à la question ouverte « Que puis-je faire pour vous? » assez bien pour diriger un appelant vers une destination convenable et effectuer par la suite le traitement voulu pour la recherche d'information, l'établissement d'appels ou l'exécution des tâches nécessaires. Dans cette invention, les relations entre les types d'appel sont structurées suivant une hiérarchie d'héritage. Puis un gestionnaire de dialogue exploite cette hiérarchie et la sortie d'un module de compréhension de langue parlée afin de produire un ensemble d'objectifs de tâche cohérents sur le plan sémantique.
