A method for treating a web of paper or board with a wetting substance or calendering the web prior to the cylinder dryer section of a paper- or boardmaking machine while the solids content of the web is still very low, typically in the range of 10 - 60 %, wherein the web can be conveyed when so desired fully supported from the wire section of the paper- or board making machine up to the winder, while simultaneously utilizing the quality benefits obtained from a controlled reduction of the web moisture content and dewatering of the same. The web is conveyed supported by a transfer belt (9) through at least one web surface treatment apparatus such as a coater station (S1B) or a calender prior to passing the web to the first dryer cylinder group (1) of the paper- or boardmaking machine. One nip (11, 13) supported by a transfer belt (9) is suitable for dewatering simultaneously with the application of a treatment substance to the web. The dewatering nip (11, 13) may be formed between a transfer belt (9) and the wire (2) of the wire section or the felt (14) of the press section.
L'invention concerne un procédé qui permet de traiter une bande de papier ou de carton avec une substance mouillante ou bien de calandrer ladite bande avant la sécheuse à cylindres d'une machine à papier ou à carton, en maintenant la teneur en solides de la bande très basse, généralement entre 10 et 60 %. Il est possible de transporter la bande, si on le souhaite, de manière totalement supportée depuis la section table plate de la machine jusqu'à la bobineuse, tout en conservant les bénéfices, en termes de qualité, dus à la réduction contrôlée de la teneur en humidité de la bande et en déshydratant cette dernière. La bande est transportée supportée par une courroie de transport (9) de façon à passer à travers au moins un dispositif de traitement de surface, tel qu'un poste de couchage (S1B) ou une calandre, avant d'arriver au premier groupe de cylindres sécheurs (1) de la machine. Une ligne de contact (11, 13) supportée par une courroie de transport (9) permet d'effectuer simultanément la déshydratation et l'application d'une substance de traitement sur la bande. La ligne de contact d'essorage (11, 13) peut être formée entre une courroie de transport (9) et la table (2) de la section table plate ou le feutre (14) de la section presse.
