Described is a method as well as an apparatus for hydration of a particulate or pulverulent material containing CaO. The method is peculiar in that water is added in a quantity which will ensure that the partial pressure PH2O of the added water as a function of the temperature (~C) is maintained within the interval defined by the formula (I), where PH2O is the partial pressure of water vapour in atm. and T is the temperature in ~C. Hereby is obtained that the material particles do not lump into agglomerates, and that the particles are hydrated evenly from the outside and inwards so that it is the active surface of the material particles which undergoes hydration in connection with partial hydration. This is due to the fact that the liquid water will not get into contact with the material particles since the water will appear in vapour form within the specified interval.
L'invention se rapporte à un procédé ainsi qu'un appareil d'hydratation d'un matériau particulaire ou pulvérulent contenant CaO. Ce procédé se caractérise par le fait que de l'eau est ajoutée dans une quantité permettant à la pression partielle P<SB>H2O </SB>de l'eau ajoutée en tant que fonction de la température (°C) d'être maintenue dans l'intervalle défini par la formule (I), P<SB>H2O</SB> étant la pression partielle de la vapeur d'eau dans l'atmosphère et T étant la température en °C. Ainsi, le matériau particulaire ne forme pas de grumeaux, et les particules sont hydratées de manière égale de l'extérieur vers l'intérieur si bien que la surface active du matériau particulaire subit une hydratation en relation avec une hydratation partielle du fait que l'eau liquide n'entre pas en contact avec le matériau particulaire puisque l'eau apparaît sous forme de vapeur dans l'intervalle spécifié.
