A method and apparatus for identifying frequency bands to compute linear phase shifts between frame prototypes in a speech coder includes partitioning the frequency spectrum of a prototype of a frame by dividing the frequency spectrum into segments, assigning one or more bands to each segment, and establishing, for each segment, a set of bandwidths for the bands. The bandwidths may be fixed and uniformly distributed in any given segment. The bandwidths may be fixed and non-uniformly distributed in any segment. The bandwidths may be variable and non-uniformly distributed in any given segment.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant d'identifier des bandes de fréquence afin de calculer des déplacements de phase linéaire entre des prototypes de trame dans un codeur de parole. Ce procédé et cet appareil consistent à partitionner le spectre de fréquences d'un prototype de trame en divisant le spectre de fréquences en segments, à attribuer une ou plusieurs bandes à chaque segment et à établir, pour chaque segment, une série de largeurs de bande pour les bandes. Ces largeurs de bande peuvent être fixes et distribuées de manière uniforme dans n'importe quel segment, fixes et distribuées de manière non uniforme dans n'importe quel segment ou variables et distribuées de manière non uniforme dans n'importe quel segment.
