METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IMPROVING THE OPERATION OF A TWIN WIRE PAPER FORMER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Improvements in a paper-making machine having a twin wire former in which a layer of pulp stock is injected between converging forming wires which are then drawn in unison under tension, with at least one of the wires in contact, over one or more deflector blades disposed substantially parallel to each other along an arcuate path to provide a small angle of wrap of the forming wires and pulp stock passing over each of the blades to provide dewatering of the pulp stock. The improvement comprises one or more of the deflector blades having a wire supporting bearing surface and a downstream foiling surface. The foiling surface is divergent from the wires to exert suction on the pulp stock between the wires to ensure positive contact between the bearing surface and one of the wires adjacent thereto.
