A method and apparatus for determining continuous, visual clamp load status during tightening and throughout the life of a fastener (2). A pair of levers (8, 16) are configured and positioned within a fastener (2) to provide an amplified indication of the elongation of the fastener (2) as a load is applied to the fastener (2).
