ABSTRACT A method and apparatus is disclosed for injection molding a micro-pipette having a hollow cylindrical portion and a hollow tapered portion. The method involves injecting a first molten molding material having a weight equal to the desired weight of the tapered portion into a tapered portion of a pipette-shaped cavity of a cool, closed injection mold through a runner, a gate and a cavity entrance located at a taper-beginning portion of the cavity; cooling and resolidifying the main mass of the first molten molding material immediately thereafter injecting a second molten molding material having a weight equal to the desired weight of the cylindrical portion of the pipette to be molded into a cylindrical portion of the pipette-shaped cavity through the cavity entrance; cooling and resolidifying the main mass of the second molten molding material while allowing a final hottest molten mass of the second molding material to weld with a final still molten mass of the first molding material and thereafter cooling and resolidifying the two welded final masses to form a monobloc molded pipette.
