A cutting wheel assembly (100) for cutting elongated articles having a cylindrical housing (101) which defines a longitudinal cavity (102) and a circular outer periphery (103). A plurality of cutting blade support rings (180) are rotatably mounted about the outer periphery of the housing (101). A plurality of cutting blades (170) are mounted for radial mouvement on each ring and and disposed at angularly spaced increments about the housing, wherein each blade is moveable between a first, non-cutting position and a second, cutting positon. A manifold and valve assembly (130) is mounted in the cavity and proximate the cutting blades for selectively directing a pulse of fluid against individual blades at preselected angular positions to urge the blades outwardly from the non-cutting position to the cutting position. A plurality of camming components (183) are positioned about the periphery of the housing and secured against rotation adjacent the rings. The camming components include tracking grooves (184) for receiving portions of the blades which guide the blades along the cutting and non-cutting positions, and which maintain the blades in the cutting position without continued presence of the fluid.
L'invention concerne un ensemble (100) de roulettes de coupe permettant de couper des articles allongés, présentant un logement cylindrique (101) définissant une cavité longitudinale (102) et une périphérie extérieure circulaire (103). Une pluralité d'anneaux de support (180) à lames coupantes sont montés rotatifs autour de la périphérie du logement (101). Une pluralité de lames coupantes (170) sont montées pour permettre un mouvement radial sur chaque anneau et disposées à des incréments espacés de manière angulaire autour du logement, chaque lame étant déplaçable entre une première position de non coupe et une seconde position de coupe. Un ensemble (130) collecteur et vanne, monté dans ladite cavité, est situé à proximité des lames pour permettre de diriger de manière sélective un jet de fluide contre des lames individuelles à des positions angulaires présélectionnées afin de contraindre les lames vers l'extérieur, depuis la position de non coupe jusqu'à la position de coupe. Une pluralité de composants (183) à cames sont positionnés autour de la périphérie du logement et fixés en contre-rotation, adjacents aux anneaux. Les composants à cames comprennent des rainures de poursuite (184) permettant de recevoir des parties des lames qui guident les lames le long des positions de coupe et de non coupe, et qui maintiennent les lames dans la position de coupe sans présence continue de fluide.
