TITLE Method and apparatus for joining two edges of a knitted tubular article upon completion thereof. ABSTRACT Apparatus for joining two edges of a knitted tubular article, especially the toe of a stocking, comprising: - cam means (31,32) for operating the lifting and respectively the lowering of a predetermined number of needles (3,30) of a first and a second semirank of stitches (8,80); - means for removing the stitches (8) from said first semirank (x) and overturning them through 180° about a diametral axis (a-a) of the cylinder (1) of needles (3,30); - cam means (7) for operating the 180° overturning in both directions of the semicircular sector (4) about said axis (a-a) of the cylinder (1); - means for operating the transfer of the sector (4) from a knitting station (T) to a linking station (R), that is a station (R) in which the hook-up is formed; - means for keeping the sinkers housing (11) of the machine at a fixed and predetermined angular position; - a seamer- linker (130) to operate the seaming of the pairs of stitches (8/80) during the linking step; - means (95, 96, 97) for ultimately cutting the linking thread (F) and holding the end of the thread (F1) fed by a supply reel. La présente invention a pour objet une méthode ainsi qu'une machine permettant de joindre deux bords d'un article tubulaire tricoté, une fois terminé le tricotage de celui-ci. Machine servant à joindre deux bords d'un article tubulaire tricoté, notamment des pointes de bas; celle-ci comporte : un mécanisme à cames (31 et 32) commandant le levage et l'abaissement d'un nombre prédéterminé d'aiguilles (3 et 30) sur un premier et un deuxième demi-rangs de mailles (8 et 80); un mécanisme servant à retirer les mailles (8) du premier demi-rang (x) susmentionné, pour ensuite retourner celles-ci sur 180 degrés dans l'axe diamétral (a-a) du cylindre (1) d'aiguilles (3 et 30); un mécanisme à cames (7) permettant d'effectuer ce retournement sur 180 degrés et dans les deux directions du secteur semi-circulaire (4), dans l'axe diamétral (a-a) du cylindre (1); un mécanisme commandant le transfert du secteur (4) depuis un poste de tricotage (T) vers un poste de remmaillage (R), c'est-à-dire vers un poste (R) où l'agrafage est effectué; un dispositif servant à maintenir le boîtier des platines (11) de la machine dans une position fixe et selon un angle prédéterminé; une assembleuse-remmailleuse (130) effectuant l'assemblage des paires de mailles (8/80) durant l'étape de remmaillage; un dispositif (95, 96 et 97) pour finalement couper le fil de remmaillage (F) et retenir l'extrémité du fil en question (F1), qui est distribué par une bobine d'alimentation. (Fig. 1A)
