A machine (20) for lapping or testing gears comprising a single machine column (22) having a first side (24) oriented perpendicular to a second side (26) with the first side having a first workpiece spindle (28) rotatable about a first axis and the second side having a second workpiece spindle (38) rotatable about a second axis. The first workpiece spindle is movably secured to the first side and the second workpiece spindle is movably secured to the second side. The first and second workpiece spindles are movable with respect to one another along one or more of mutually perpendicular directions G, H, and V. At least one, and preferably both, of the spindles are direct drive spindles. At any relative position of the spindles and their associated gear members (36, 48) along the G, H and V directions, the crossing points of their respective axes remains the same. For lapping, the machine further includes means (64, 66) to introduce lapping compound at the toe end of one of the members rotating in mesh at a location before the point of mesh.
L'invention concerne une machine (20) de rodage ou d'essai d'engrenages, qui comporte une colonne (22) de machine unique présentant un premier côté (24) orienté perpendiculairement à un deuxième côté (26), le premier côté étant pourvu d'une première broche (28) de pièce à travailler tournant autour d'un premier axe, et le deuxième côté étant pourvu d'une deuxième broche (38) de pièce à travailler tournant autour d'un deuxième axe. La première broche de pièce à travailler est fixée amovible au premier côté, et la deuxième broche de pièce à travailler est fixée amovible au deuxième côté. La première et la deuxième broches de pièces à travailler sont mobiles l'une par rapport à l'autre dans une ou plusieurs directions mutuellement perpendiculaires G, H, et V. Au moins une des broches, et de préférence les deux broches, sont des broches à entraînement direct. A toute position relative des broches et de leurs éléments (36, 48) d'engrenage associés dans les directions G, H et V, les points de croisement des axes respectifs restent les mêmes. Pour mettre en oeuvre le rodage, la machine comporte en outre un dispositif (64, 66) servant à introduire un composé de rodage à l'extrémité pointue d'un des éléments tournant en prise, à un emplacement situé avant le point de prise.
