Methods and apparatus for choosing the least congested channel by a communications device in a multi-channel wireless communications system (2) are disclosed. A wireless device (80), such as a base station or access point, is preferably configured to determine how many wireless client devices (16,18) are associated with each of the channels of the wireless communication system (2). The device (80) may then determine which channel of the wireless communication system (2) has the fewest wireless client devices (16,18) associated therewith. The device (80) may then choose to operate on the channel that has the fewest associated wireless client devices (16,18) and lowest traffic flow.
La présente invention concerne des procédés et un appareil pour choisir la voie la moins encombrée au moyen d'un dispositif de communication dans un système de communication sans fil à plusieurs voies.
