In the future, stricter standards regarding the microwave radiation emitted by mobile telephones will be applied. Therefore, in the worst case, the transmission power of mobile telephone systems will have to be reduced, which will affect the quality of service. However, it would be unreasonable to reduce the transmission power of all mobile stations. Therefore, the object of the invention is to create e.g. in the GSM system a property that allows a mobile station to be used at a power level consistent with the safety standards. The invention makes it possible to distinguish between different mobile stations e.g. on the basis of their IMSI and/or IMEI codes. According to the invention, data substantially relating to the transmission power of the mobile station are stored in the mobile communication network separately for each mobile station; device data identifying the mobile station are received in the mobile communication network in conjunction with call setup; the transmission power data for the mobile station are checked and the transmission power of the mobile station is controlled on the basis of a predetermined power control algorithm and the device data for the mobile station.

Il serait toutefois peu raisonnable de réduire la puissance d'émission de la totalité des stations mobiles; aussi, la présente invention a pour but de créer une fonctionnalité (appliquée, par exemple, à un système GSM) qui permettrait d'utiliser la station mobile à un niveau de puissance qui correspond aux normes de sécurité. L'invention permet de distinguer plusieurs stations mobiles différentes, p.ex. sur la base de leurs codes IMSI et/ou IMEI. Selon cette invention, les données qui sont sensiblement en rapport avec la puissance d'émission d'une station mobile sont mémorisées dans le réseau de communications mobiles, séparément pour chaque station mobile; les données en rapport avec le dispositif, qui permettent d'identifier la station mobile, sont reçues sur le réseau de communications mobiles en conjonction avec l'établissement d'un appel. Les données en rapport avec la puissance d'émission de la station mobile sont vérifiées, et la puissance d'émission de la station mobile est régulée au moyen d'un algorithme prédéterminé de régulation de puissance, en fonction des données en rapport avec le dispositif pour la station mobile concernée.
