A method, apparatus, and program for requesting a page from a server (302) in a networked computer system. The page is requested, using a domain name, a first time from a client application (300) in the computer system in which the page is requested. An Internet Protocol address for the domain name is looked up on a remote domain name server (304) and used to request the page. The address is stored locally in an address translation database (304), accessible only by the client application, associated with the page domain name. Subsequent page requests may be processed using this database, which is referenced in response to a page request to determine whether an address is present for the page. The page is requested using an address returned from the database if it is present. Otherwise, the remote domain name server is queried to determine the address of the selected page.
