A method and apparatus for locating the injection point of an implanted medical device. In a preferred embodiment, the locating apparatus is in the form of radiopaque rings (22 and 24) made of a metallic substance. When these rings are spaced apart at different heights on an implanted medical device, such as a drug port (10), a stereoscopic effect results from fluoroscopically viewing the device along an axis not parallel to the axis along which the rings are spaced. This effect allows onc to readily determine the orientation of the device. This prevents accidental injection of drugs into the hard backside of the drug port.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de localiser le point d'injection d'un dispositif médical implanté. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, l'appareil de localisation revêt la forme d'anneaux radio-opaques (22, 24) constitués d'une matière métallique. Lorsque ces anneaux sont espacés à différentes hauteurs sur un dispositif médical implanté, tel qu'un orifice d'administration de médicaments (10), un effet stéréoscopique se produit suite à la visualisation fluoroscopique du dispositif le long d'un axe non parallèle à l'axe le long duquel les anneaux sont espacés. Cet effet permet de déterminer rapidement l'orientation du dispositif, ce qui empêche l'injection accidentelle de médicaments dans l'arrière dur de l'orifice d'administration de médicaments.
