A modular patient care system is described having unique mechanical, electrical, and logical features. An apparatus is described for allowing a modular connecting arrangement wherein modules (102, 104A - 104D) are detachably connected to each other in a convenient, flexible, interchangeable, secure manner by providing a hinge connector pair, a specially located latch mechanism, and a guide means between any pair of modules. Additionally, an apparatus, and method is described for automatic, sequential, and dynamic logical address assignment of functional units attached to the central management unit according to their respective position in a linear array of units. Logical address assignment is designed to occur automatically upon a physical reconfiguration of the functional units, without requiring external input, or a prearranged scheme for determining the relative physical positions of the functional units.
L'invention concerne un système modulaire d'aide au patient présentant des caractéristiques mécaniques, électriques, et logiques uniques. L'invention concerne plus particulièrement un appareil permettant un agencement modulaire, cet agencement étant constitué de modules (102, 104A-104D) raccordés amovibles les uns aux autres de manière à la fois pratique, flexible, interchangeable et sûre, grâce à deux raccords à charnière, à un mécanisme de verrouillage convenablement disposé, et à des organes de guidage placés entre deux desdits modules. L'invention concerne en outre un appareil et un procédé d'affectation d'adresse logique automatique, séquentielle et dynamique des unités fonctionnelles à l'unité de gestion centrale, en fonction de leur position respective dans l'alignement que forment ces unités. Cette affectation d'adresse logique, mise en oeuvre automatiquement lors d'une reconfiguration physique desdites unités fonctionnelles, ne nécessite aucune entrée extérieure ou schéma prédéfini pour déterminer la position physique relative de ces unités fonctionnelles.
