A method and device for field detection are provided, in which one or more gradiometers (31, 32, 33) are positioned in the field and rotated about their axes. Rotation of a single gradiometer allows an output signal of the gradiometer to be analysed in the Fourier domain, which allows particular field components to be obtained, and also separates the field signal from noise, in the frequency domain. Use of three such rotating gradiometers with non-parallel axes allows a complete magnetic field gradient tensor to be obtained with data redundancy, and can reduce crosstalk.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant de détecter un champ magnétique. Un ou plusieurs gradiomètres (31, 32, 33) sont positionnés dans le champ et tournent autour de leurs axes. La rotation d'un seul gradiomètre permet à un signal de sortie dudit gradiomètre d'être analysé dans le domaine de Fourier, qui permet d'obtenir des composantes de champ particulières, et sépare également le signal de champ du bruit dans le domaine de fréquence. L'utilisation de trois gradiomètres rotatifs de ce type à axes non parallèles permet d'obtenir un tenseur de gradient de champ magnétique complet avec une redondance de données, et peut réduire la diaphonie.
