A method and apparatus for making lid shells in die presses, with the addition of a forming ring (118) within the die set. The forming ring (118) is placed between the draw pad (14) and die center (16), and is used to apply a force on the material during the shell lid forming process. Use of this apparatus reduces the amount of force that must be applied on the draw pad to hold the material between the die core ring and the draw pad during the forming process. By lessening the force needed to hold the material during the forming process, the probability of wrinkling or cracking of the material during the forming process is greatly reduced.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif pour l'élaboration d'une coque de couvercle de canette dans une presse de découpage, avec adjonction d'anneau formeur (118) dans l'ensemble de matrice. L'anneau formeur (118), placé entre le plateau de tréfilage (14) et le centre de matrice (16), permet d'appliquer une force sur le matériau durant la formation du couvercle. Cette configuration réduit le degré de force à appliquer sur le plateau de tréfilage pour maintenir le matériau entre l'anneau de matrice et ledit plateau en cours de formage. La réduction de force considérée permet de réduire considérablement la probabilité d'apparition de plis ou de craquelures sur le matériau en cours de formage.
