ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to a novel method and pressing apparatus which are useful for the production of wood composite products. A method of making a wood composite product, comprising: a) heating the wood composition by means of high frequency heating while the composition is under pressure and while the heat is not allowed to transfer by conduction from the composition to the press platens; b) cooling the heated compressed composite by allowing heat transfer by means of thermal conduction from the composition to the press platens, and cooling the press platens.
