ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to method and apparatus for in vivo mammalian nerve regeneration of a damaged nerve using an electric current through the damaged nerve while the nerve ends are abutted against one another, sutured together or spaced apart from each other. The apparatus is implantable in a human body so that the electric current can be maintained for an extended period of time to produce regeneration of the damaged nerve.
