A method of characterizing a multiphase mixture, comprising irradiating the mixture with X-rays collecting photons emanating from the mixture in response to irradiation; generating a signal responsive to the aggregate energy of the collected photons; and, analyzing the signal to characterize the mixture. This invention further includes an apparatus for characterizing a multiphase mixture, comprising: an X-ray source irradiating the mixture; a detector collecting photons emanating from the mixture in response to irradiation, the detector generating a signal responsive to the aggregate energy of the collected photons; and means for analyzing the signal to characterize the mixture.
L'invention concerne un procédé qui permet de caractériser un mélange multiphase, consistant à irradier le mélange aux rayons X; à recueillir les photons émanant du mélange suite à l'irradiation; à fournir un signal en réponse à l'énergie cumulée des photons recueillis; et à analyser le signal en vue de caractériser le mélange. L'invention concerne en outre un dispositif permettant de caractériser un mélange multiphase, qui comprend: une source de rayons X irradiant le mélange; un détecteur recueillant les photons qui émanent du mélange suite à l'irradiation (le détecteur fournit un signal en réponse à l'énergie cumulée des photons recueillis); et un système permettant d'analyser le signal, en vue de caractériser le mélange.
