A merchandiser and method for displaying and dispensing elongate articles such as hockey sticks. The merchandiser comprises a pair of shelving units each having a frame and a plurality of shelves protruding from the frame. The shelving units are attachable to a support structure (such as a wall) with a fastener. The shelving units are arranged on the support structure with the shelves of one unit being parallel to, and spaced a pre- determined distance from the shelves of another unit. The hockey sticks are then laid horizontally across corresponding pairs of parallel shelves in order that they are supported at both ends. Sloping shelves are provided to facilitate a "gravity feed" to urge the hockey sticks to the front end of the shelves. In a preferred embodiment, the shelving units are conveniently and inexpensively formed from elongate rods that are welded together. In further embodiments, the shelves are vertically adjustable relative to the frame.
